Free PSHE resources offered to help support transition

A digital programme is helping primary school pupils to get ready for transition to secondary school while supporting their mental health and wellbeing.

Many year 6 pupils have not been able to have the traditional visits to their future secondary school this year.

However, primary schools are being offered free access to the Discovery Education Health and Relationships PSHE programme until October. The resources include a Coping With Change module, which schools are using to help prepare children for their transition.

The resource include videos, presented by young people, focused on secondary school transition, where real pupils offer advice on what to expect. From dealing with friendship worries to more practical concerns such as getting lost in a new school, the resources reassure children about the changes ahead.
